SR. GEREVASIO - MATERNITY WARD
Maternity
ward takes care of mothers after delivery with or without
complications and before delivery if mothers have illnesses or
complications of pregnancy.
Those
with normal deliveries and healthy babies are nursed in post natal
ward. Those with illness or complications e.g Caesarian sections are
nursed in maternity wardroom 1- 4 and side rooms.
Each
section has its own staff: maternity two registered nurse, one
enrolled nurse and 3 attendants.
Postnatal
ward, a team who also do the postnatal visit after 1 week has a staff
of 4 enrolled nurses.
NICU
has 1 registered nurse and 5 enrolled nurses and 1 medical attendant.
Premature
unit has two enrolled nurses.
Neonatal
care unit: Since October 2015 neonatal care is provided in a 6 bed
neonatal intensive care, with 4 incubators and 3 warmers and cecap
equipment and an 8 beds observation room for babies who still need
observation and their mothers.
Healthy
prematures, who can breathe well without oxygen are transferred to
premature unit were experienced nurses guide the mothers in kangaroo
mother care. Our kangaroo care unit was started already in 1990.
