AMBULANCE SERVICE
By
September 2019 the ambulance service/ taxi service of the MMH program
came to the end of its funding the District and the hospital were
supposed to take over. The Dispatch centre was handed over to the
hospital for supervision while 2 of the staff remained receiving
phone calls and communicating about transport. One District ambulance
got an accident, while the hospital ambulance is old and only fit for
tarmac. A new ambulance was request to benefactors via the Diocese.
Taxis need to be paid by patients / first line health units. In
reality attendance of the waiting hostel has declined from over 40 to
20+. Many mothers come late by motorbike.
Opening
Cemonc centre at Kome Island has helped to bring services closer to
the mothers.
